These bracteates are thought to be imitations of margravial bracteates from Brandenburg. While the exact issuer remains unknown, their style distinctly points to 13th-century Lower Lusatia. Similar pieces - featuring a quatrefoil instead of a hexagram (Bahrfeldt Niederlausitz pl. XIV, 261, Starzeddel Hoard 173) - are sometimes considered imitations of the margravial bracteates from Meissen.
